Mea Vai heads a team of talented paralegals and professionals.
The Founder
I am an intellectual property lawyer in Papua New Guinea with almost 20 years experience in this field. 17 of those years spent with a top tier international firm before venturing alone to set up Vai IP, Papua New Guinea’s only boutique intellectual property law firm.
I am admitted to practice Law in Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Australia (Queensland).
Much of my practice covers non-contentious IP matters from Trademarks, Patents, Industrial Design and Copyright but I am regularly sought for specialist advice on significant contentious commercial intellectual property matters.
My approach to clients is to provide sound , practical IP advice with a commercial focus.
I act for local companies with their intellectual property matters in Papua New Guinea and with our network of partner law firms in over 100 countries help local clients in overseas markets. However, the majority of the clients I advise are overseas clients with intellectual property interests in Papua New Guinea.
I have acted for varied clients, many of them among the top global brands. The main client industries are: Food & Beverage, Retail, Technology, Banking & Finance, Fashion, Pharmaceutical, Industrial & Construction, Mining/Resources, Agriculture and Transport.
I have also been a member of the International Trademark Association INTA attending international trademark conferences around the world.
Aside from Intellectual Property, I have an interest in residential property development and have done several projects and currently undertaking my biggest project ever.
